My name is Yasmany Gonzalez and I'm from Cuba. I came to the united states when i was 13 years old . I immigrated from the Havana Cuba with my family in 2008 . I remember it was a very raining day and me and sister were crying cause i didn't want to leave my family and friends that lived near my block. on our way to the airport, i was thinking how everything was going to be now that we were going to live in a new place were every single thing was different from Cuba. That day when we got to the airport there were lots of people, some of them crying , some of them happy. Suddenly the speaker of the airport’s waiting area said “ the people with destination to Miami Florida have to start checking in”. I was really nervous cause that would be the first time i got inside an airplane, so me and my family went inside the airport to check our documents. After that, we went to the waiting area , to wait for the time to come “ the time to leave the land were i was born” . After half an hour we got inside the air plane, i was really scared , i though the airplane was going to crush and we were all going to died. I remember a woman seating next to my mother, asked me if it was my first time going to the U. S and i say yes, after that i fell a sleep and half an hour later when i woke up, the air plane was arriving to the city of Miami ,Florida.

When the airplane landed in the city of Miami, i could see everything was different from what i spec-ted. There were many people crying because they said they have reached the paradise, others looking everywhere , and others kissing the floor. At that time , there were many things going through my mind. After we left the plane , me and my family went to the immigration office to check our passports. Since we were four people , we had to wait like six hours cause it was one by one. After we left the immigration office, we went to pick up our suitcases. After that, my mother saw my aunt , she didn’t see in like 20 years. I was very happy because i saw my cousins. Everything was good , my imagination was going a little bit farther about my aunt’s house. When we got to my aunt’s house it was not what i spec-ted it to be. “I though my aunt’s house was a huge house” i said to my self and when i saw it was a little house with two bed rooms and a kitchen and the bathroom. The first week was everything was really fun , i was happy with my cousins, i was getting new clothes, and i was meeting new places. But i was starting to feel tired. My mother and my sister would cry every night thinking about everything they left in our country. I was starting to hate this country , i was starting to hate the language, the people , the food , the water , everything. The only thing i never disliked was the music. Even though i didn’t understand the language i did like the music. My cousins would asked me to go out with them, and my answer would be “no”. my family and i , decided to go to new york to live with my grandmother. When we got to new york it was all different from Miami. The places, the cars, the schools, the people, and the weather. My grandmother’s house was really big and had six rooms with three bathrooms and a big kitchen and a huge living room. New york also had something weird, and it was the houses, in Cambria Heights all of the houses look almost the same , so one day me and my sister went to a grocery store and everything was going good until we had to go back home and we were in front of my grandmother’s house , but we didn’t know which one was the house. If my mother doesn’t open the back yard door to grab something from the garage , me and my sister would have been in front of our house for hours.
